Montana Real Estate Continuing Education Online

Montana real estate licensees must renew their licenses annually by October 31. Completing your CE courses is a prerequisite for renewal, but course completion alone does not renew your license. You must also submit your renewal through the Montana eBiz portal and pay the applicable renewal fee.

Salespersons & Brokers  

Active salespersons and brokers must complete 12 hours of ARELLO-certified CE each licensing year. All 12 hours may be elective, meaning there are no mandatory topic requirements. CE must be completed within the current licensing year (November 1–October 31) and cannot carry over to the following year.

Supervising Brokers  

Supervising brokers must also complete 12 hours of CE annually. Of those hours, 4 hours must cover BRR-required broker supervision topics. The remaining 8 hours may be fulfilled with elective courses. Please note that VanEd does not currently offer the supervising broker-specific course. This must be sourced separately from a provider offering ARELLO-certified supervising broker coursework.

New Salespersons  

Salespersons licensed during the renewal period of September 2 through October 31 are not required to complete 12 hours of CE until their license expires the following October 31. If you are unsure of your CE requirements as a newly licensed agent, contact the Montana BRR directly. 

Can New Agents Take Montana Real Estate Continuing Education Courses Online?

Yes. Both newly licensed agents and experienced real estate professionals can benefit from VanEd's online Montana CE courses. New salespersons should be aware that CE requirements may be prorated based on their license issue date. If you were licensed between September 2 and October 31, you are not required to complete your first 12 hours of CE until the following October 31.
