Property management courses will be designated by the letters “PM” (or “RPM” if the course meets both the property management and the “R” course requirements). The requirement become operative starting in the next CE cycle, January 1, 2017, and those required to take the courses will have to complete such courses prior to the end of their renewal cycle on December 31, 2018.
For purposes of this requirement, property management shall mean and include “Acting under a written contract as a third party for a landlord or owner of property in the collection and or holding of rent, deposits, or other monies from tenants for the benefit of the property owner.”
This course provides the student with an overview of property management. The course includes detailed discussions of the role of property manager, landlord policies, operational guidelines, leases, lease negotiations, tenant relations, maintenance, reports, habitability laws, and the Fair Housing Act.
Recognizing that specialization is not possible without the basics, this course provides the basics necessary to begin the learning process toward residential management, commercial management or even operation of a private property management firm.

The online course has multiple exercises and exams and is completed with a cumulative multiple choice final exam. In the classroom the instructor may choose to offer different exercises or a final exam.
Note: This course meets the property management continuing education licensing requirements for those real estate licensees who practice property management in Nebraska.
