First-Time License Renewal - Texas SAE Courses & Post-Licensing Education
To renew your Salespersons License the first time (two years after passing the Texas real estate licensing exam), you must fulfill the Salesperson's Annual Education (SAE) requirement by having a total of 270 qualifying real estate course hours. If you obtained your license by submitting 180 hours of qualifying courses, you will need an additional 90 hours of elective SAE courses plus 4 hours each of Legal Update I and Legal Update II courses. Sales agents who have been made a supervisor by their broker must also take the 6-hour Broker Responsibility course to renew.
Once you have completed your SAE requirement, the next time you renew, you must fulfill the Texas real estate Continuing Education (CE) requirements.
What Is the Difference Between Real Estate SAE and CE Classes?
Real Estate SAE classes are required for real estate licensees during their first renewal cycle or within two years of passing the Texas real estate exam. CE classes, on the other hand, are required for all subsequent license renewals.
