NREC-Approved Real Estate Education

NREC-Approved Real Estate Education

Mandatory Nebraska Salesperson, Broker, & Designated Broker Post-License Courses

Nebraska requires real estate post-license education for new Salesperson Licensees, new Broker Licensees, and those acting as a Designated Broker.

All our Nebraska Real Estate School classes are approved by the Nebraska Real Estate Commission (NREC) under the most current rules, are 100% online, and include instructor support by phone, email, and online Q&A.

Nebraska State Requirements

The Nebraska Real Estate Commission requires all licensees to have completed 18 hours of Nebraska real estate continuing education within the 2-year licensing period, by November 30th of the second year. Of this, at least 6 credit hours must be in 'designated subject matter' courses which are indicated with the letter 'R' in the 4-digit course content number. Six (6) hours may be in Broker Approved Training or Elective CE coursework.

Property Managers must also complete at least three (3) hours of PM designated coursework.

Team members, team leaders and designated brokers who supervise teams shall complete the at least three (3) hours of team training a minimum of once every four years and within 180 days of joining or authorizing a team. These courses have "Team" or "Teams" in the course title and are designated with an "R".

For First-Time Licensees: Fulfillment of Continuing Education requirements above are due by November 30th of the second year of your first license cycle.

All NE licensees must also apply and pay the fee for renewal annually by November 30th.

Nebraska Real Estate License Renewal Basics

Nebraska real estate Licensees are required to complete 18 clock hours of real estate continuing education every two years in order to renew a real estate license. 12 hours must be in continuing education activities approved by the Nebraska Real Estate Commission, of which 6 hours must be in designated subject matter.

Property Managers and those licensees working in teams have additional CE requirements.

Property Managers must complete an additional three hours of CE coursework which shall be required in each two year period in a property management course or courses approved and designated by the Commission as meeting this requirement for all licensees who provide property management services during such two year period, or who supervise a licensee or licensees who provide property management services during such two year period.

All team members, team leaders, and designated brokers who supervise teams are required to complete three hours of CE coursework on teams or team leadership which are approved and so designated by the Commission for all team members, team leaders, and designated brokers who supervise teams. Courses must be completed within 180 days after being designated a team member or team leader or designated broker supervising a team or teams.

Team training must be completed at least once every four years.

Designated subject matter courses are indicated with the letter "R" in the four-digit course content number that is assigned to the course.

Duplication of Continuing Education Prohibition

Continuing Education Credit will not be granted when activities or substantial activity content is duplicated within 4 years. However, "R" courses are an exception to this rule and may be duplicated in subsequent continuing education periods but NOT in the same continuing education period. The course content number is used to determine duplication of content between courses i.e. don’t take the same number within 4 years.

Important Note on Renewals

  • Active Nebraska licensees (salesperson & broker) must apply and pay the fee to renew their license with the NREC every year by November 30th. In addition, fulfillment of Continuing Education requirements above are due every two years, by November 30th, of that second year.

Real estate continuing education credit will not be granted when activities or content is duplicated within 4 years. However, "R" courses are an exception to this rule and may be duplicated in subsequent continuing education periods but NOT in the same continuing education period. The course content number is used to determine duplication of content between courses.

Commission - Approved Training Requirements

Commission-approved training is an opportunity for licensees to attend training that could enhance their business efforts or be beneficial in other ways but not meet the more stringent requirements of Continuing Education credits. Licensees may take up to six hours of commission-approved training as a part of their 18 hour education requirement every two years.

360training.com, Inc. dba Van Education Center offers online real estate continuing education courses and classes that may meet the commission-approved training requirements.

You may substitute Continuing Education activities for all or part of the 6 hours allowed for commission-approved training. [Please note: while continuing education activities will meet the commission-approved training requirement the reverse is NOT true; commission-approved training will NOT meet the real estate continuing education requirement.]

Duplication of commission-approved training activities

Duplication of commission-approved training activities is not prohibited but is subject to commission approval.

How to Renew a Nebraska Real Estate License

Follow these 4 Easy Steps to Renew Your Real Estate License in Nebraska.

Recorded Proctoring Services (RPS)

State regulations require a third party to oversee final exams, usually in person with an eligible proctor. Recorded proctoring, however, utilizes video recording technology to supervise and validate online exams.

RPS captures audio and video of the test-taker during the exam, ensuring compliance with rules and preventing cheating. The recorded footage is later reviewed by proctors or automated systems to maintain exam security and validity.

Now, with our 100% online, on-demand, and approved recorded proctoring service, you can take your final exams anywhere and anytime, if you have a camera, microphone, and internet connection!
