The Nebraska Real Estate Commission requires all those taking the real estate salesperson licensing exam to have completed 60 hours of real estate pre-license education (2 30-hour courses) prior to sitting for the Salesperson Examination.
Those seeking to upgrade to the Broker level of licensure must either:
- Have 2-years of Active experience and complete an additional 60 hours of pre-licensing coursework for a total of 4 courses, or
- Complete an additional 120 hours of pre-licensing coursework for a total of 6 courses.
Note: Most students will choose to start as a licensed real estate salesperson before deciding to upgrade to the broker level of authority later on. VanEd offers individual courses for those seeking to upgrade which allows students to select courses that are in line with their primary business practices.
Broker Upgrade: Those seeking to upgrade to a broker license may NOT repeat courses used for salesperson licensing. If you took License Law for your salesperson license you may not take License Law again to upgrade to broker. Instead, you should select other courses that you have not previously taken.
Coming from Another State? If you already have a real estate license, you will need to complete the 3-hour Nebraska License Law and Agency Relationships course required for reciprocity with Nebraska.
