Requirements for Obtaining a Broker License in Oklahoma are Changing

Effective November 1, 2017, the requirements for a broker license type changes based upon the type of license you want to obtain.  A Broker Manager, Proprietor Broker or Branch Broker license types are authorized to supervise and sponsor provisional sales associates, sales associates or broker associates whereas a Broker Associate license type is not authorized to supervise and sponsor associates. 

Following are the broker license requirements based on the license type you want to obtain in Oklahoma.

Original Broker Manager, Proprietor Broker or Branch Broker License Type Requirements

  1. Evidence of two (2) years of active license experience within the past five (5) years as a sales associate or broker associate (provisional sales associate license experience will no longer count toward the two year experience requirement)
  2. Successful completion of ninety (90) clock hour Advanced Broker Real Estate Course approved in Oklahoma
  3. Successful completion of a fifteen (15) clock hour Broker-In-Charge course approved in Oklahoma
  4. Evidence of documentation of ten (10) real estate transactions within the past five (5) years
  5. Successful completion of the Oklahoma Broker examination
  6. Submit to a Criminal History Background Check
  7. Forms and fees as required

Original Broker Associate License Type Requirements

  1. Evidence of two (2) years of active license experience within the past five (5) years as a provisional sales associate or sales associate
  2. Successful completion of a ninety (90) clock hour Advanced Broker Real Estate Course approved in Oklahoma
  3. Successful completion of the Oklahoma Broker examination
  4. Submit to a Criminal History Background Check
  5. Forms and fees as required

On and after November 1, 2017, a Broker Associate wanting to upgrade to the license types of Broker Manager, Proprietor Broker or Branch Broker must submit the following to the Commission:

  1. Successful completion of a fifteen (15) clock hour Broker-In-Charge course approved in Oklahoma
  2. Evidence of documentation of ten (10) real estate transactions within the past five (5) years
