Colorado DRE Updates Colorado CAM CE Requirements for 2016

The following notice was sent to all interested parties in the monthly Division of Real Estate Newsletter. We are reprinting the information for our students here.

The continuing education requirements for a licensed CAM begin after issuance of their initial license.  Licensees must complete their continuing education requirements prior to applying to renew an active license, to activate an inactive license or to reinstate an expired license to active status. However, completion of the pre-licensing credentials in the same initial licensing period in which the license was approved will satisfy the continuing education requirements in that initial licensing period.

In effort to streamline the process for the first renewal cycle, the Division of Real Estate presumes all licensed individuals renewing their CAM license, beginning May 1, 2016 completed the pre-licensing credential in the same initial licensing period that their license was approved.  As such, all licensed CAMs renewing their license this year have satisfied the continuing education requirements in accordance with the licensing law.  For subsequent renewal cycles, all licensed CAMs must complete 8 hours of continuing education courses in approved subjects as prescribed in Director Rule B-3 or successfully pass the Colorado law portion of the CAM examination.

This means that if you acquired your license then you have met the CE requirement for this license year.

After July 1st, 2016 all CAM Licensees will be required to complete 8 hours of CE each year.  VanEd presents required coursework in an easy to complete online format.
