Course Description

Any REALTOR® will benefit by learning what procedures and policies can be implemented by the REALTORS® office to ensure that the REALTOR® who is responsible for the sale receives the commission promised. In addition, this course gives REALTORS® who serve on Professional Standards Hearing Panels additional training on those considerations which commonly occur in arbitration cases.

This course is not comprehensive in scope or content; it is intended to be the beginning of the necessary study that helps a REALTOR® become more professional. A thorough study of the Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual (CEAM), continuing education in professional standards and practice, and a desire to become more competent are ongoing challenges for REALTORS®.

The Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual (CEAM) is a valuable resource and is quoted throughout this course.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify procuring behavior in selected case studies.
  • Distinguish between Code of Ethics violations and procuring cause behavior.
  • Recognize broker behaviors that are not exclusive determiners of procuring cause.
  • Develop a plan to follow to ensure that you are the procuring cause when working with buyers.
  • Determine and rank broker behaviors which are important to establishing procuring cause
