Approval does not endorse or assure the quality of a Provider’s services.

This course is not valid in Oregon.

Who Should Take This Course?

Anyone filing for bankruptcy is required by law to show evidence of completion of debtor education after you file for bankruptcy - but before your debts are discharged.

Pre-requisites: This is the second course required for bankruptcy. Prior to taking this course you are required to undergo Credit Counseling. You will also need a bankruptcy case number prior to receiving your completion certificate.

Objectives

The Personal Financial Management course is designed to accomplish three primary objectives:

  • To educate the student about the benefits of establishing short term and long term financial goals,
  • To guide the student through the process of preparing a financial budget, and
  • To provide the student with an online interactive check reconciliation process.
As the student is working through the course material they will be building a personal financial plan. This plan will be summarized on one page and available to the student at the conclusion of the course. Other topics addressed in the course include wise use of credit and consumer information related to credit.

What Information Do I Need To Take the Course?

The student should have information on their gross income, net income (check amount after taxes), and their monthly expenses. If you have this information available prior to starting the course it will save time in the course.

The cost of this course is $29. This course is offered to debtor students without regard to a debtor student's ability to pay.

This course is available online at any time. Instructors are available to answer your questions Monday through Friday from 9am - 5pm Mountain time.

Van Education Center does not pay or receive fees or other consideration for the referral of debtor students to or by the provider.

There is no time limit associated with completing the course. However, once payment is made there is no refund available. If the course is not completed within six months the student will be converted to inactive status. A call to our office will be required to reinstate the account.

Confidentiality
