In order to become a licensed real estate agent in the state of Virginia, you must first complete a pre- licensing course approved by the Virginia Real Estate Commission.

Virginia real estate licensing requirements
Sales License
- Be at least 18 years old
- Complete a 60 hour, state approved prelicense course
- Pass a proctored final exam (grade of 70% required to pass)
- Pass the state exam (grade of 75% required to pass)
Sales Post License
- New real estate licensees must complete a 30 hour post license course before their first renewal of their license. The licensee can chose from the following 3 courses:
- Residential Real Estate
- Commercial Real Estate
- Property Management
Broker License
- Be at least 18 years old
- Must have at least three years of experience within the past four years
- Complete a 180 hour, state approved prelicense course
- Pass a proctored final exam (grade of 70% required to pass)
- Pass the state exam (grade of 75% required to pass)
