Virginia Real Estate Licensing

In order to become a licensed real estate agent in the state of Virginia, you must first complete a pre- licensing course approved by the Virginia Real Estate Commission.

Virginia real estate licensing requirements

Sales License

Be at least 18 years old
Complete a 60 hour, state approved prelicense course
Pass a proctored final exam (grade of 70% required to pass)
Pass the state exam (grade of 75% required to pass)

Sales Post License

New real estate licensees must complete a 30 hour post license course before their first renewal of their license. The licensee can chose from the following 3 courses:
- Residential Real Estate
- Commercial Real Estate
- Property Management

Broker License

Be at least 18 years old
Must have at least three years of experience within the past four years
Complete a 180 hour, state approved prelicense course
Pass a proctored final exam (grade of 70% required to pass)
Pass the state exam (grade of 75% required to pass)
