The Oregon Appraiser Certification and Licensure Board has identified four levels of real property appraisal classification:
Appraiser Assistant
State Licensed Appraiser
State Certified Residential Appraiser
State Certified General Appraiser
Oregon Appraiser License Requirements
The Oregon Appraiser Certification and Licensure Board has established the minimum educational requirements for an appraisal license. The minimum educational requirements include the following:
Appraiser Assistant
75 hours of approved qualifying appraisal education (must include 15 hours of the Appraisal Foundation's National USPAP Course or its equivalent).
College-level requirements: None
State Licensed Real Estate Appraiser
150 hours of approved qualifying appraisal education (must include 15 hours of the Appraisal Foundation's National USPAP Course or its equivalent).
2000 hours of appraisal experience.
College-level requirements: None
State Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser
200 hours of approved qualifying appraisal education (must include 15 hours of the Appraisal Foundation's National USPAP Course or its equivalent).
2500 hours of appraisal experience over at least 24 months.
College-level requirements: Associate degree or higher. In lieu of the required degree, 21 semester credit hours covering the following subject matter courses: English Composition; Principles of Economics (Micro or Macro); Finance; Algebra, Geometry or higher mathematics; Statistics; Computer Science; and Business or Real Estate Law.
State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser
300 hours of approved qualifying appraisal education (must include 15 hours of the Appraisal Foundation's National USPAP Course or its equivalent).
3000 hours of appraisal experience over at least 30 months, with 1500 of those hours in non-residential.
College-level requirements: Bachelors degree or higher. In lieu of the required degree, 31 semester credit hours covering the following subject matter courses: English Composition; Principles of Economics (Micro or Macro); Finance; Algebra, Geometry or higher mathematics; Statistics; Computer Science; and Business or Real Estate Law; and 2 elective courses in accounting, geography, ag-economics, business management, or real estate.
