Continuing Education Course Outline

Your skills will be enhanced, and you will appear more professional and knowledgeable if you are able to answer questions concerning these areas, as well as provide insights and suggestions to your clients. You will also be better able to help your clients find the home that best suits their needs if you know some of the pros and cons of architectural styles, energy demands, budget constraints, and other subjects covered in this course.

It will also be to your benefit to be able to discuss water rights, water sources, types of sanitary waste systems, and environmental concerns. You will be able to discuss with your clients the differences in new and existing home warranty programs, as well as prepare them for some of the "surprises" they may encounter when dealing with municipal building bureaucrats and inspectors.

Learning Objectives: You will be expected to learn and apply your knowledge in the following areas, or to know enough to seek out experts and/or additional resources:

• The general types of home styles available
• Considerations in selecting a building site
• Water sources and water rights and their impact on residential property
• Sanitary waste systems and their impact on site/home selection
• Mechanical systems and possible problem areas
• Survey issues
• Dealing with regulatory agencies, primarily building departments
• Areas of concern in resale homes
• Environmental concerns
• Energy savings

The course contains numerous multiple choice quizzes, and is completed with a multiple choice exam.
